address book - where you manage all of
your email addresses
BCC - Blind Carbon
Copy recipients will receive a copy of the email but will NOT be listed as a recipient in
the message.
CC - Carbon Copy recipients will
receive a copy of the email and be listed as a recipient in the message.
email program - a 3rd party program
which allows you to manage your email. e.g. Microsoft Outlook, Outlook
Express, Netscape Messenger, Qualcomm Eudora, and others.
encoder - is used to compress &
create files into a certain format. e.g. the MP3 encoder creates <.mp3>
files.
ISP - internet service provider.
e.g. AOL, MSN, @home, AT&T, Earthlink
MAPI - popular interface which let's
V3mail send email through programs like Outlook Express, Netscape Messenger, Eudora etc.
Reply-to Address - is the email
address to which replies to your emails will be sent.
SMTP - Simple Mail
Transport Protocol. A SMTP server name is the address of a computer which has the
sole purpose of processing emails. This is usually provided by your ISP or a FREE
email service on the web. e.g. smtp.earthlink.net (if your ISP is
Earthlink), smtp.mindspring.com (if your ISP is mindspring).
