F.A.Q. / Troubleshooting

Q: Now that I have downloaded V3mail, how do I install it?
A: Locate the installation file < v3mail20.exe > on your hard disk and double click on it. Follow the on-screen installation instructions.

Q: What are the differences between V3mail 2.0 FREE, SHAREWARE, & PRO?
A: V3mail 2.0 FREE is fully functional advertising supported FREEWARE.  V3mail 2.0 SHAREWARE has the same functionality of the FREEWARE version, is advertisment free, but it's use is limited to a 21 day evaluation period.  V3mail 2.0 PRO is the purchased upgrade of either the FREEWARE or SHAREWARE version.  It is advertisement free & has all the standard features plus extra functionality like advanced MAPI features, the custom command line voice encoder, and others.

Q: I've been using the SHAREWARE version for more than 21 days.  How do I get rid of the random popup reminders?
A: You have the option of either upgrading to V3mail 2.0 PRO or continue by downloading & using V3mail 2.0 FREE.

Q: When I run the installation program < v3mail20.exe > it crashes or doesn't start. What should I do?
A: The file you have downloaded is probably corrupt or incomplete. Go to http://www.v3mail.com to re-download the installation file.

Q: I just purchased V3mail and when I enter in the License Name & Key I keep getting the message "Enter in your License Name & License Key exactly as you received it." What could be wrong?
A: Make sure you are entering both the License Name & License Key EXACTLY as you received it (i.e. 'A' is different from 'a'). Also keep in mind that the License Key is composed of only uppercase & lowercase alphabet characters [a-z][A-Z]. If you are copying & pasting the text in, make sure that there are no space characters following or preceding the License Name or Key.

In some cases, certain system montoring software will hinder the registration of V3mail like InoculateIT. Disable this software before entering the License Name & License Key. Be sure to re-enable the software after you are finished.

Q: Does V3mail work with the FREE v3mail.com web based email?
A: Currently the v3mail.com web based email and V3mail the program are 2 seperate offerings.  while it is possible to offer the service which would interface the two, it isn't being offered right now.  Go to http://www.v3mail.com to get the latest status on this.

Q: How come no program launches when I double click on a file attachment?
A: The file doesn't have a program registered to open it. To create a file association, open up the Windows file explorer and double click on a similar filetype ( with the same .xxx extension ) and select the program you want to open it with.

Another way you can create a file association is to open up the Windows file explorer and select the menu View->(folder)Options then the File Types tab. Finally, create the new file association.
