Downloading the TTS plugin
The TTS program is already included in the COMPLETE Installation package.   However, you will need to download the TTS plugin if you have installed the LITE Installation package.

Downloading different speech engines
To hear text read in any other language besides the default (Mary - english), download the speech engine from the following locations.

After the installing the engine, select the new engine from the voice drop down menu.

How to Use
Use the TTS feature of V3mail to create mp3 messages of text in a human synthesized voice.  There is also the option to change the voice to read English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, or Dutch text in the native language.  The rate of reading can be changed to faster or slower.  For words that are mispronounced by the voice, the program allows for it's pronouciation to be fixed quite easily.  To create a MP3 file of the speech click the Attach button.

Speak
This button allows you to listen to the text using the currently selected voice.

Attach
The Attach button will generate a MP3 file of the voice reading the text.

Filename
Select a filename for the voice message.  A unique default filename will be generated automatically.

Voice
This drop down list shows all the available voices that can read text.  For a language other than english, download the appropriate speech engine from the location provided above.  Then select the voice from this drop down menu after it has been installed.

Rate
Change the rate of speech.  After a voice change, the rate will be set to the default for that engine.

Fix Pronounciation
If the voice is pronouncing a word incorrectly, then this feature allows you to fix it.   You can either use a similar sounding word or manually change the phonetics to fix it's pronounciation.

Options:
             Attach as wav - will attach the file as an uncompressed ADPCM wav file
             Update email text - upon attaching a file, the program will update the text of the email message
             Watch Clipboard - will monitor the clipboard for new text.  It will prompt to overwrite or append the text

F.A.Q/Troubleshooting

Q: The program won't allow me to create MP3 messages, I already downloaded the V3mail 2.1 LITE Intallation and then the TTS plugin.  What's wrong?
A: To create MP3 messages you need to either download the COMPLETE Installation package or install Windows Media 7.  If you don't want to install Windows Media 7, then download the COMPLETE Installation package.  All your current program settings will be retained when you re-install the COMPLETE package over the LITE package.

Q: I click the SPEAK button but I hear none of the text being read.  How do I fix this?
A: You need to have a sound card installed on your computer to be able to hear sounds.  Either that is the problem or close any other sound programs you may have running.  Also make sure the sound is enabled or the output volume is high enough on your system.
It may also be that the installation was somehow corrupted.  You can try redownloading the TTS plugin from http://www.v3mail.com/download.htm#plugin .
